God and Faith have been shown to improve mental health remarkably.
Positive Christian beliefs have been studied and tested to improve your mental health.
How we think affects how we feel and in overall all the body functions are controlled by the brain.
The reasons why my own personal faith journey has improved my overall health and my mental health is :
1. My perception of God. God is good, He is kind, He is merciful and all-time consistent. There is literally no one I have ever met who has ever been consistent including my own self. I am flawed, often carried away by my own feelings etc but my vision of God is that He doesn\’t change even when I do even when my circumstances change. Every secure ATTACHMENT is attached to a strong home base. Mine is God.
2. Purpose – Most people are making ends meet, reaching out for some deeper meaning to life. But my salvation gave me purpose. Something I was planted on earth to do. Something bigger than I am. That brings in my God-given skills and some extra dose of anointing. A purpose-driven life is the best source for CREATING A VALUE SYSTEM.
3. Hope – Some people think Hope is too painful to feel. And I get that. Life had disappointed me plenty before I found my way back to Christ. But limitless hope and infinite time ( insert eternity) hope is a different kind of hope. And so even through tough times I always have hope of their temporary nature. You see, life is tough for both faith-based people and non-faith-based people. My difference is when I SURRENDER I don\’t just release hardship to an obscure abyss but I release it to God.
4. Altruism – Self-focus is such a depressing state. Case and point that selfish person you just thought of. Whose life seemingly should be great but they are just a jumble of hurt and anger. Psychology also states personalities who are so self-focussed tend to be disordered. ( Insert personality disorders) One of the principles of Christianity is focusing on others. How can you help? How you can reach out. And the great thing is that you do all of that without expectation from the said helped individuals. The recompense is always a discussion with God. So even when you live outside yourself you aren\’t so caught up with people\’s responses. Like I said earlier, we as people aren\’t always reliable.
5. WWJD – Jesus was such a healthy example of life. His 33 years on earth were filled with great examples. He was a self-love king, he was a self-care dude, he ignored negative people, he always took his time even before he gave a witty come back, he was structured but interruptible, he was a peacemaker, he forgives quickly even when he could discern other people\’s intentions. He was a meditation nut, did His self-care routine and connected with His maker quietly ( MORNING ROUTINE). He stood up for His beliefs damn the outcome. And I am just following the coolest guy I know and His steps.
I really hope this is the inspiration you need to fire up your faith in God and receive salvation.
